Purpose
The WCRA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the environment. Its primary objective is to reduce the amount of solid waste being sent to area landfills.

History
It all began with a small group of volunteers in 1990. We planned to collect material once every 3 months near the old McDonalds. What we ended up with was a traffic jam for a mile on Hwy 30.

Three months later we moved to an area near North School where we collected recyclables into semi trailers. We stayed there for almost two years.

In 1992, we moved to an area near the current animal shelter where we stayed for 7 years. The Hwy 30 expansion project forced us to move again.

Finally, in 1999 we found a home. We built a permanent facility with the help of a state environmental grant. The building was expanded in 2002 to provide more storage area.
